Isn't that the truth.
My Mom has told me this story about my Dad having a lack of good judgement one night while out drinking with some of his buds. Apparently, he got ripped up pretty good somewhere downtown and decided he was going to drive home. On his way home over the Paseo Bridge, he was pinballing back and forth between the guardrails on the bridge (and it was a damn good thing the bridge was empty at the time!), and naturally was pulled over. He wasn't arrested, but instead one of the cops got into his car and drove it home. My Mom said she got up and made the cops some coffee, and they all talked for awhile before they had to go. A much different time back in the day. Could you imagine the uproar today if something like that happened, and people found out about it?
And yes, I completely understand that what my Dad did that night was absolutely stupid, and how lucky he was that he or noone else got hurt. A fact that he himself 'fessed up to later on in his life.
