Patrick Surtain for one of those players straight up and all other factors equal hell no...nobody would but all other factors aren't equal and there in lies the reason why we got him for the Matt Roth pick. We didn't just trade the Matt Roth pick for Surtain but the Matt Roth pick and a very large contract.
If you look at just player for player it looks like a great deal but when you factor in the money you quickly find out why we were the only team willing to jump on that "great deal". It is a deal that we needed more than any team especially since Peterson fuqed up the S.Rolle deal but it was far from a winning lotto ticket.
