Also, for passing in this game there are 2 rules.
1) Set your feet. If your QB is moving too much, passes will be poor quality and hard to catch even if you hit the WR.
2) Use touch. Don't bullet every pass. You have to know when to lob. The best way to learn this is to go into the passing shell mini-game and play there.

Practice will help these two, as well as getting used to the playbook & knowing when receivers are open.

Do you take control of your receivers when the ball is in the air? If you do, I guess it could just be a timing issue on when to catch the pass, but if you don't, that's probably your biggest problem.
