Once Muser is fired, the Royals will be fine. We have tremendous young pitching talent and sturdy defense to go with it, as well as a couple of talented power hitters in double and triple A ball. The days of slap-hitting DHs will be over (finally).
A new labor agreement is the only way we'll be able to compete on a longterm basis though, because Glass won't dish out more than 40 million or so at this point, which I understand. No matter how much he is willing to pay for a team, the big market teams will outdo him by 50 to 100 million. That's just the way it is...
I don't think we'll ever see a labor agreement though and no salary cap means MLB will die. Not many people want to see the 4-6 same teams competing for the World Series annually.
