Car Wash sprayer. Soap then rinse....no need to wax.
I use a qtip once in a while just to keep them cleaned out...usually after doing something like cutting wood or sanding drywall or something with alot of dust/dirt. Never really have any problems.
A couple of years ago, I thought I was going deaf in my left ear....and on a doc visit for my knee or something else, mentioned it...that ear was completely plugged...they used a big syringe with hot water.....alot of damn times. That pretty much sucked spraying against the ear drum. the lady did say that it normally wasn't that difficult to remove. eventually the lump of coal came out.
