I've been a huge Phil fan since he became a head coach, his approach is unique among coaches. He recognized that X and O coaching is not all it takes in the modern NBA, you also have to get into the heads of the noveau-riche ghetto baller who doesn't need to be yelled at by a white man making less than he does or the tightly-wrapped layer who responds better to talk than scream. He figures out what strings to pull with each player and mind-****s them into playing as a team.

IMO Riley recognized the mega-talents his players had and created a new brand of basketball the likes of which hasn't been seen before or since.

Regardless of the era Auerbach did what no one else has and IMO deserves to be the standard.

Hard to say who is the greatest coach of all time just like it is to say who is the greates player of all time (MJ? Wilt? etc.).
