As for sledding, I can see their point. If the snow is deep enough (more than 6 inches) then why not let the kids off so they can enjoy it. I am sure he was off for a snow day when he was in school and enjoyed playing in it.

They aren't full of themselves. Alot of parents don't feed their children breakfast, as they don't eat breakfast themselves.
They can enjoy snow after school, too.

And during school, at recess time.
