Bob Dole traded in the RX-8 because Bob Dole wanted to be able to tow the bike somewhere after work on Fridays and when the weather didn't lend itself to a road trip.
After driving just about every other SUV/Soccer Mom vehicle available, the CX-7 was the best mix of handling and acceleration Bob Dole could find.
It's not an RX-8 by any stretch of the imagination, but it does what Bob Dole wants (decent MPG/tows the VTX on a trailer) without any problems, and it doesn't present any of the handling issues (understeer, oversteer, body roll) Bob Dole experienced when test driving the other options available.
A couple of Bob Dole's male friends initially gave Bob Dole some minor shit about driving the "soccer mom" car, but after riding in it and driving Bob Dole's drunk ass home in it, they pretty much shut the hell up.
