See above, WWI effectivly killed the Briitsh Empire. That's one of the reasons we got the job of "Middle East Cop". We might not have been so gungho to take it if not for WWII but maybe.

This is a good point, it's a shame so much was destroyed. I guess that's a good reason not to invade your neighbors and gas millions.
