Houston Texans (sfeihc) - C+

You gotta do what you gotta do, and the Texans must find themselves a pass rush on their DL aside from Mario Williams. Was Derrick Harvey the right guy? I think he's overvalued when most people say he belongs in the middle of the 1st, but any DE you're going to get at the Texans' position is going to be overvalued because of how weak this Draft is at the position, so you might as well get the best overvalued guy you can. Derrick Harvey is a fair pick.

Terrell Thomas in the 3rd is another fair pick, but like the Harvey pick it doesn't blow me away it just seems like they're going with relatively safe picks at positions of need. Never that bad of an idea, but its straightforward-ness isn't that easy to write about either. I will say this: I felt there were much better players at both Draft spots.

Seattle Seahawks (DaKCManAP) - C

The Seahawks' selections over the course of the Draft had a pretty high WTF rate with me. I didn't like the DeSean Jackson pick but there's lots of disagreement with me over him so I can understand how the Seahawks would believe he could become a lethal deep threat in the NFL. I don't see it, but it's possible it's there.

TE Brad Cottam in the 2nd was a lot weirder for me. I've enjoyed watching Cottam with Tennessee and he played well in the senior bowl, but he doesn't have half the dynacism as a Greg Olsen to warrant such a high pick. Love his size, but I fear his injury history. DT Ahtyba Rubin was ... interesting. He's adept at collapsing the pocket but he's struggled with motivation and fatigue, as people his size usually do. I'm not excited about it.

San Fransisco 49ers (bsp4444) - A-

For such a lousy season they had last year, there's a chance the 49ers could have a serious recovery with a couple of these picks. James Hardy in the first especially. I don't think the pick is amazing value, as I feel a guy with Hardy's tools and limited questions should be taken where he was. But I do feel it was an intelligent value pick on bsp's behalf.

The next two picks were defensive picks, which again I found to be fairly sharp. The 49ers are pathetic on offense, but their defense gave up too many games for that to matter. Campbell is a fair gamble atop the second; if he can get his act together the 49ers may have committed theft. Gooden in the third has some work to do but was yet another smart value pick. All in all the 49ers drafted well, albeit unconventionally.
