Stay away from the big chains, Golf Galaxy, Nevada Bob's, Edwin Watts. Go to a PGA pro around your area who has a good rep, and hit balls in a live environment. Don't use a launch monitor for anything other than a second opinion, and if he wants you to hit into a net, tell him to fuck off. Make sure he uses impact tape to judge your lie angle properly.
Do some research on your own to find a list of shafts that may suit you.
