Alright. Colts are up.
Here's their underwhelming Draft so far:
2. DT Trevor Laws
3. OLB Geno Hayes
4. DE Jason Jones
5. QB John David Booty
6. ...
We're not exactly writing love songs here about what the Colts have done, and they've still got a couple holes to fill, primarily for their interior line or wide receiver.
The two guys I like for them are Connecticut's Donald Thomas, who's a shifty,
barely undersized guard who'd be ideal for Indy's ZBS, and Utah State's sleeper pick, Kevin Robinson. Thomas right now seems like a brighter option to me considering Indy's troublesome lack of depth inside, but Robinson's the kind of explosive hands-of-glue playmaker who could have a high ceiling if given a year of good coaching.
Kevin Robinson is a potential playmaker from a small school with a lot more promise in Indy's system than Thomas has, particularly because Peyton is probably screaming at their GM right now because he hasn't drafted anyone at a position they're perilously thin at. Robinson needs a year to bulk up and of course, he needs to adjust to NFL speed.
With the 187th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select WR Kevin Robinson from Utah State University.
