Elite DE's better rack up 12+ sacks a year to be worth this kind of money.
He wasn't even the sack leader on his own team in 2006, and was beat by a rookie.
Add his off the field issues, and there's no way Parcells touches him at #1.

Yikes dude...we must not be watching the same games...
Allen is a playmaker...Dwight Freeney can't defend the run like Allen...I'm not saying he's a phenom against the run, but he makes a lot of plays in the backfield and is above average against the run IMO...he's a very well rounded DE...he didn't have any sacks in the 4th quarter for probably a number of reasons, one being most teams were in run mode because we were typically losing...he also batted down a ton of balls at the line...and he's been doing it his entire career...
I'm sure he was among the league leaders in QB hurries in 2006 and if I remember correctly he had a TON of forced fumbles...
No one can persuade me otherwise, Allen is an elite DE in the NFL...maybe even the best. Resigning him to a contract no longer made sense and I am happy with the deal especially after he signed for 31M guaranteed...but if Parcells had his four years of film from KC to look at...I really think he's going #1...shit, look what he got paid...#1 money.
Which is also a big flaw in the NFL...rookies are getting paid more than veterans...but what can you do? You can't do what the NBA does unless you guarantee the contracts because of the short shelf life in the NFL...players need to start signing 2 year contracts and I think they need to be guaranteed...that's really the only way to solve this dillemma...I like to ramble.
