Wow, I hadn't heard that this weekend's storms reached as far north as KC. I know that southwest Missouri was devastated, though. I have a lot of family that live in Newton County and Jasper County, in and around Neosho, and a few in Seneca and Joplin. My grandfather and uncle, both of whom live near Neosho, both lost their farms, or large parts of them, but luckily their homes were relatively undamaged. My uncle lost all of his farm buildings, but the storm left his equipment, tractors and trucks untouched, oddly. The only damage to his home, though, was a few broken windows. Two of the six turkey houses on my grandfather's poultry farm were leveled, and two others severely damaged. His house was untouched. Strange how these things seem to pick and choose what they want to destroy.
Here in St. Louis, we didn't get much more than strong wind and some heavy rains. A few unsecured structures, like newspaper bins, got knocked over by the wind, but no other damage that I could see. The wind was howling so loud last night and into the early Sunday morning hours that I couldn't hear my television.
