Same concept as the guy that opened the door or acts nice to blacks while in the hood. He's trying to make a difference and show that not ALL people are like what he's "prejudged" to be.

My question is, why you give a rat's ass what some waitress, or anybody else thinks of you.
Get over it. Yeah the world's got some problems. People are not perfect, but a lot of the racism you find, is in your head. Kind of like a perceived "black hole".
