I expect some unpleasantry, without a doubt. But if I can influence a situation, I will. Most civilized people will realize that they're in a family environment and edit themselves.
I don't usually make a big deal out of it, standing on some soapbox and preaching. I get their attention, say "Hey, there's kids around. You might want to watch your language." Evertime I've done that, people have been contrite and ceased their use of foul language.
The funny thing is that people can always make their point without having to resort to cursing. From my perspective, using foul language is usually demonstrative of poor language skills and below average creativity.
