It makes all the sense in the world to me. The Pack were covering their ass in trading for a 32 year old at a luxury position, who has stated since camp that he wasn't committed to play past 2009.
In that case, my only problem is that the Chiefs waited until the last minute.

According to Shefter, the Pack thought they had the deal done over an hour before the deadline.
