With the first pick in the 2009 ChiefsPlanet mock draft, the Detroit Lions are excited to select:
Matthew Stafford, QB, University of Georgia
The Golden rule of the draft is to not pass on a franchise QB unless you already have one. The Lions have nothing resembling a franchise QB, and this pick, along with HC Jim Schwartz will give the Lions something they haven't had in well, forever - solid coaching AND QB play.
