In some ways, rape is worse than murder. The victim carries the crime with her to some extent forever, and in addition to her suffering, everybody who currently or ever will care about her pays the price.
IMO, rapists should be publicly and painfully executed. Burning at the stake works for me. Nice deterrent factor there.
