Contrary to yesterday's news:

Dye, Fields could miss opener in KC

Outfielder not ready to return; third baseman hit on wrist.

Quote:
ARLINGTON -- Don't expect Jermaine Dye back in the White Sox lineup for Monday's series opener at Kauffman Stadium.

And it sounds as if Dye could have some banged-up company on the bench. Third baseman Josh Fields, who has reached base in 20 of his first 23 games this season, was struck in the left wrist by a Matt Harrison pitch in the first inning of Sunday's 5-1 loss.
Jayson Nix will most likely start in place of Fields.

Dye's own words:

Quote:
"Right now, I can't grip a bat and I don't think I'm playing tomorrow, no matter what," said Dye, whose left hand still is noticeably swollen but not as bad as it was on Saturday night. "We'll still treat it and [White Sox athletic trainer] Hermie [Schneider] will ask me once I get into the stadium how it feels. If it feels good enough, I'll take some swings. If not, we'll keep treating it."
He could be out for the series.
