I'm wondering how much of a premium this will now place on a guy like Brandon Spikes. I know that Herzlich was an outside strongside lineback, but was considered to be near Curry level in terms of talent and intangibles and was basically the only outside linebacker in this next draft that had true NFL size that would allow him to play in either a 4-3 or 3-4 alignment. The other top prospects are darn near safety size which means that they would be downgraded in terms of the increasing number of teams who are now looking at running 3-4 schemes.
Either that, or the college DE (a la Orakpo, Brown, Kruger and the like from this past draft) is now the 3-4 OLB, and the college LB is the 4-3 OLB.
Should we, as Chiefs fans, now even worry about looking at the prospect who are playing at OLB in college as feasible prospect for the Chiefs organization?
