Drink a bottle of castor oil and see how long your will power will keep you from heading to the john. A Real Alcholoic can never take that first drink. AA is a proven method, does it work everytime? No. It only works if you work it hard. Go to 90 meetings in 90 days, buy a Big Book and read on it at night. When the time is right you can start working the steps. You probably already have done step 1- Admitted you were powerless over alchol and your life had become unmanageable. Other than Fax's suggestion the only thing I might add is if you are suffering physically from alchol, such as DT's, etc. you probably should go to a detox center(NOT HOSP.). A person needs to get the fog out before soaking in the meetings, but once you are out and feeling good get your ass to a meeting and never forget what it was like when you hit your rock bottom (last spree) or you will repeat.
