Haley happy with conditioning
Though not every player completed his conditioning test today in the assigned time, coach Todd Haley said he was satisfied that as a whole, the Chiefs arrived at training camp in good physical condition.
"I was concerned (whether) guys during their little bit of time off continued to stay in condition," he said. "As a group, we did that."
Haley wouldn't reveal which players failed the conditioning test but said the Chiefs had a handful of players who won't practice tomorrow because of physical issues.
He wouldn't identify those players, either. But running back Kolby Smith, who had knee surgery last season, and defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey, who said he failed the conditioning test, will apparently be among them.
"I won’t get into numbers," Haley said. "We had a handful of guys that are not going to pass the physical for a number of different reasons, not necessarily for running. We don’t have anybody that’s real far off. That’s what I feel good about. None of these are long-term deals. We should have everybody going pretty soon.
"There will be a number of guys not practicing tomorrow. It won’t all be because of this part of the physical. This was part of our physical examination. We have a number of guys that won’t practice tomorrow, a handful I should say."
