I think what Haley and Pioli are saying is that they absolutely believe that Cassel is the guy who will go out there and win the job and that they believe he is better than the other guys, but that's not going to stop them from trying to win if Cassel falls flat on his face and Thigpen all of a sudden turns into an all pro and a great leader...

yep; refreshing to know that the GM and Coach want to win; and if that means starting someone else who's benching someone who's making more money etc....so be it. I always got the opposite feeling from Carl; guys who are getting a big paycheck always play - regardless (Gannon/Grbac etc)
