Haley says drops remain a problem -- and a point of emphasis

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said Saturday that Kansas City's wide receivers continue to drop far too many passes, and he said that's something the Chiefs just can't continue to do.

"That's something that we can't have," he said. "These guys have to mature, develop, and start to show signs that they're competitive players, probably here pretty quick.

"We had the whole offseason where we had some of that; now it's time to pick it up for sure."

Several receivers dropped easy passes during the Chiefs' morning practice session. Dwayne Bowe, who has been criticized many times for his occasionally unsure hands, dropped a tough one. Near the sideline, Bowe cut toward the inside and had to dive for a ball thrown toward the outside. The ball bounced off Bowe's hands, but the crowd at least applauded his effort.

Haley said the Chiefs' expected Nos. 2 and 3 receivers, Mark Bradley and Bobby Engram, have a chance to be solid players with some work.
