Well, considering it was a game where the starting quarterback, best safety, best linebacker and best corner were all out minutes into it, I thought it could have been much worse.
Grading the only part of the game that really mattered, that being the first half, then I'd call it a C. There were some positives: Charles and LJ combined for nearly 100 yards rushing at around 6.5 yards a pop in the first half; Bowe looks primed to have a great year (3 catches for 38 yards); the run defense held Seattle under 4 yards/carry, pressured and sacked Hasselbeck and had a score.
On the flip side, of course, Cassel went down early, and the defense gave up 150 yards passing, but that doesn't exactly surprise me when their best coverage linebacker, best coverage safety and best cornerback are all on the sideline. And despite all that, they did only give up 7 points.
The game got ugly in the second half, but I couldn't care less about that. The first team was competitive, with some of their best players on the sideline. So what if the scrubs lost the JV half of the game.
And I think the Chiefs offense probably scores in the first half if Croyle or even Gutierrez's in the game instead of weeble-wobble. He was just awful. Which isn't exactly unexpected to those of us who don't wear Thigpen underoos.
