I've been behind by sizeable amounts to far better teams a few times in my coaching life. I always tell a story I read in a book written by (I don't quite remember) either Chuck Bednarik or Sam Huff.
In the second half of a game, when losing by a ton, bednarik hits a guy, looks at him and starts laughing. The guy looks at him and snidely says,"why are you laughing so hard, look at the scoreboard!"
Bednarik looks at him and says, "yeah, we may lose, but I get to beat your ass for another 30 minutes."
