This year is much different. With all of the "distractions" and all of the naysayers it says a lot about the Broncos to be 3-0 right now.
We haven't had a defense as good as this in a long time. The first half of 2006 we had a good defense, but our offense couldn't move the ball and the defense was on the field so long they started getting injured. We can actually move the ball this year and the offense keeps getting better every week.
This is the best team we have had in a long time, definitely the best team we have had in the past three years. I think we are good enough to beat any team in the league.
We most likely won't win the SB this year so the end of the season is going to suck. Being so objective all of the time keeps you from enjoying the team when they are doing well.

As if you know... seriously, don't worry about my enjoyment with the team's 3-0 record. I'm very happy right now, but I've played the role of 'blind fan' before and I've learned to temper my over-enthusiasm in times like this ... it's a long season.
The thing with being 'objective' is that the wins are not any less sweet, but the losses don't rip your heart out as much. It takes time to learn that... took me about 15 years.
In 2004, 2005 and 2006 ... the Broncos started 5-1 in each of those seasons. In 2005 and 2006, those teams started 5-1 and ended 13-3 and 9-7 resepctively... 10 of the 12 teams they played to start each of those seasons finished with winning records. So, they were "tested" early and proved to be pretty good teams down the stretch.
The 2005 season was the best in recent memory... they started 5-1 against 6 teams that had great years, ending 13-3 with a loss in the AFCW title game. It's been a struggle ever since that year.
We'll see how it all unfolds...
