They hadn't won a playoff game in 15 years. I absolutely believe he wouldn't have been fired. He wasn't fired after the Gunther debacle. He wasn't fired after he SAID that Vermeil was the only coach he ever wanted and if he couldn't make it work with Vermeil, he would gladly step down.
Call me jaded, but 20 years of Chiefs history does quite a bit to bolster my argument.
