What are you talking about?
The Ravens haven't experienced two "down" seasons in a row this entire decade.
Tampa Bay was a perennial loser for decades before Dungy and even then, they couldn't get over the hump until they brought in Gruden and a 37 year old QB. And since that time, all they've done is regress.
The Panthers are up and down each year, depending on how Delhomme performs. BTW, Delhomme sucks and shouldn't be an NFL starter.
The Rams were horrible for a long time. It took Vermeil three years, a complete roster overhaul and the addition of two HOF players to get over the hump. Their success only lasted 4 seasons and they've been sucking for years again.
The Jags last year had serious offensive line issues, beginning with one of their starters losing his leg in a gun fight. They've been a solid franchise for a long, long time and will be again this season.
The point is that you need to build your franchise for the long-term, like the Eagles, Giants, Ravens and Steelers. Continually add talent, don't overpay for non-skilled positions and keep the same basic philosophies on offense and defense in place.
The Chiefs have been a cluster**** for the better part of the past 40 years.
