In a 3-4, if you have a solid defensive line, you don't need studs at LB. That's why the Chargers aren't trying to protect Merriman, the Steelers didn't protect Porter, and the Ravens were half-ass about protecting Suggs and Scott. In watching Hali play, he's not that bad. He just needs more consistent play from his D-line to open up more opportunities for him.
