According to a Twitter report from WQAM Radio host Steve Goldstein, who is also the play-by-play man for the NHL’s Florida Panthers, the Miami Dolphins could be on the verge of adding another Kansas City Chief to their roster.

Per the rumor, the Chiefs want two draft picks and possibly a player from the Dolphins in exchange for wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. One of those picks, per Goldstein, would be a 2010 second-round pick. He’s claiming the Chiefs say that’s the minimum they’d accept as part of any trade involving Bowe.

There are also other internet rumblings indicating the Baltimore Ravens could be in the mix for Bowe, who has fallen out of favor with head coach Todd Haley. That’s not a surprise considering the entire organization seems intent on releasing or trading most of the players who were part of the Carl Peterson era.

The doghouse has been a constant location for Bowe since Haley arrived in Kansas City. They’ve had a tumultuous relationship since off-season workouts began in March. Haley didn’t like Bowe’s “Show” mentality, and it’s steadily gone downhill ever since.

The Chiefs and Dolphins have already been busy this offseason. On August 24 they worked out a deal that included an undisclosed 2010 draft pick (reportedly a sixth rounder) in exchange for offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ike Ndukwe. On September 30, quarterback Tyler Thigpen was shipped to Miami in exchange for a 2010 fifth-round selection.

The Chiefs are hoping to cash in during the next 24 hours so they can obtain as many 2010 draft picks as possible, and Bowe might not be the only player traded. Monday night, Kansas City dealt defensive tackle Tank Tyler to the Carolina Panthers. The Chiefs are also hoping to move linebacker Derrick Johnson. Warpaint Illustrated has learned that the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions have all made inquiries regarding Johnson.

Like Bowe, Johnson is in the doghouse and receiving only scraps of playing time. He’s in the final year of his rookie contract and likely would welcome any change in order to salvage his career. He played more snaps Sunday against the Redskins than he had in recent weeks, so it’s possible the Chiefs were showcasing him before Tuedsay’s trade deadline.

Other players that could be moved include defensive end Glenn Dorsey (we hear the Atlanta Falcons are interested), running back Larry Johnson, safety Jarrad Page and backup quarterback Brodie Croyle.

The Chiefs, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.com, are willing to trade anyone on their roster with the exception of starting quarterback Matt Cassel.

Stay tuned to Warpaint Illustrated for the latest trade news involving the Kansas City Chiefs.
