The bottom line is they need to win. Hardcore fans aren't going away because they don't talk about a guy with an ankle tweak and fairweather fans aren't jumping on the bandwagon until the team wins.
If they think withholding information gives them a competitive advantage, then they can be secretive. If they win, no one cares. If they lose, it only makes them unpopular and they'll probably be replaced sooner.
They can sit there and tell us about everyone that is injured in depth and we'd still be pissed at 1-6. Hell, we'd probably also be calling for the head trainer's a$$...
