OK I'll try to explain this best I can. I usually drive in the middle lane. I typically go the speed limit +5-10 mph. Then in my rearview mirror I'll see someone coming up behind me. Meaning they are going faster than me. As soon as they catch up to me they just pace me in my blind spot.

I know that during high traffic times this is gonna happen but why does it happen when no one else is around?

If I come up on a lone driver I either pass them or pace them at a safe distance. Just not in their blind spot.
