-There's a huge talent gap after Suh and Clausen. These are two guys that could be major trade bait
-You're assuming that teams care about expenses in an uncapped year. An uncapped year means your pocketbook is wide open. Perfect opportunity to frontload the hell out of a contract
-If you don't draft a top 5 pick, where else are you going to get an exciting playmaker? If there's no CBA, there won't be many free agents--all second-contract players will become RFAs
-There are five teams right behind us who all need a QB. Two of them will have new GMs. Holmgren is a QBs guru and I'm sure he doesn't feel great about Quinn/Anderson being his QBOTFs. Washington has a new GM on a team with a history of big splashes. The Bills don't have ANYbody at QB. Even Oakland and Seattle could all trade up. Each and every one of those teams could use Suh or Clausen
If Berry's off the board, we need to seriously consider a tradedown. We could probably move down a few spots, take a really good player at that value, and get some good picks on the side. You might sacrifice a little trade value, but who cares?
