I can draw back on that time, because I live in california, and not only saw almost all the Charger games, but listened to the interviews on the the San Diego sports talk radio with Marty, AJ Smith and Brees.

Brees spent his entire offseason working on film study to learn and improve his ability to make reads.
Both Marty and AJ Smith were ready to move on, but Brees was determined to prove he could play at the NFL level.

And Cassel's big problem is a lack of accuracy beyond 10 yards, even when he does make a good read.
That was never Brees problem.
