San Diego is a very good team. Yes, they blew it yesterday. But once they finally get over LT and bring in a real running back through the draft this year, get back guys like Castillo and Brown, not to mention Merriman, this team will be a playoff team for years.

If the Chargers had kept Michael Turner instead of LT, they'd have been a Super Bowl team last year.
Marty got them to the AFC Divisional Game in 2007. He went 14-2 to get there. Disagree with the Michael Turner comment too, but that's just speculation on both our parts, right? Nothing to argue there.

Okay, maybe my comment was a bit optimistic. Wishful thinking perhaps. But the decision to go for the onside kick seems like a harbinger of bad things to come for Coach Turner. One of those watershed moments of fate that doom a coach's future with his current franchise. Hell, that play may have secured Norv a place on the next NFL Films epic fail highlight reel. We'll see.

But more importantly, a lot of Norv's talent came from Marty's drafts. [Two of the players you mentioned, Castillo and Merriman, were Marty's picks. Not sure who Brown is.] Will they be able to retain that talent? Replenish it? Can Norv win in SD with his own players?

But I do agree with you in that the dolts should be a good team next year as they'll likely retain the core of their talent. Here's the draft breakdown:
