Pioli is basically like Leonid Brezhnev. Stalin and Krushchev, although despotic, were practical about their regimes. Brezhnev, particularly in the last few years of his life, bought into the propaganda meant to placate the masses.
I think that he's spouted "The Right 53" and "The Patriot Way" so much that he honestly believes the only way to build a football team is to look at guys who were attached to either New England or Parcells.
Emerson once said "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of a small mind". I can think of no better quote to encapsulate Scott Pioli.
