The issue isn't the amount of money spent. It's how you spend it in free agency. Chiefs are clearly in a building mode. You can't build through free agency. You can add some timely peices to an already solid foundation. Right now, the chiefs lack that foundation. Any big spending in free agency at this point is like putting the cart before the horse.
Once you have a foundation or the core of the team, then you supplement in free agency. The chiefs would be foolish to chase the 30 year old big name players in free agency. If they can add some young ascending talent, then that's where they need to spend the money. Unfortunately, that is rarely available.
