As long as $$$ comes pouring into the NCAA from these 1 and done "students" that are going to end up being 1st rd NBA draft picks come that June, this really isn't going to change.
If you're a 5-star Blue chipper coming out of HS, you're not thinking about school starting the 2nd semester of your frosh yr, you're thinking about March Madness and raising your stock for the NBA draft.
Say if was John Wall, I'd try and do well 1st semester so I can still play Jan thru Apr. But once 2nd semester starts, I'd go to class to meet team guidelines etc, but I wouldnt do shit like studying etc. I would probably live at the practice facility pretty much working on weights, my game etc. because once 2nd semester ends, you're bolting for the NBA draft anyway. You don't have to worry about grades for your sophomore season because you're not gonna be there.
It's a stupid rule, and it could cause a bunch of teams overall GPA tank.
