I'm reading through this thread and jaywalking really has nothing to do with this. At all. A police officer was assaulted (even if by a very thin line) and reacted in the best way possible AFAIC.

But that said, Chiefless is right. Jaywalking is a problem at certain intersections, and for some reason people like to pretend that they're way more important than cars trying to drive on the roads, while they're jaywalking none the less. Good for the cop for writing the citation. Sometimes it's deserved, sometimes it's not. I'm assuming if he took the time to stop them for it, there's a reason.
