Spiro Agnew, Vice President of the United States, resigns as part of an agreement after being charged with federal income tax evasion in connection with accepting bribes while Governor of Maryland. His resignation, and plea of nolo contendre to one count of income tax evasion, ends the Department of Justice's case against him.
