My two cents...
Bannister was always my favorite late 80's - early 90's mall but Metro North was closer and Llama Jr. and his sister loved the hot air ballons...
Sad to see them both dead...
But the first KC mall I ever visited (on 4-H conference money) was Blue Ridge... I always thought they could repurpose the old Blue Ridge mall into a much more modern space... and guess what... when I was home last weekend I noticed they had. Wal Mart, Lowes, etc, all in the old space. A very rousing 'open air' shopping center right where Blue Ridge used to stand. Seems they could have reutilized the old infrastructure instead of bull dozing everything, giving Independence rat heaven, then rebuilding shit...
but its still cool to see that part of town alive again. now, on to the little Bannister area issues....
