Chiefs fans are like hardcore Trekkies. We so love this team and are ecstatic that we're seeing good football again (like when The Next Generation was premiered after years of Kirk's trek being off the air). But there's still a problem that's really holding this team back and is preventing it from really becoming awesome.

Wesley Crusher. Matt Cassel is Wesley Crusher.

We just finished the first season. Tasha Yar is dead; we lost in the playoffs. And Wesley is still firmly with the series. We have to wait probably another 3 years to get rid of him, and even then he'll do something stupid like miss the ship to the Academy and have to stick around for another year. Likewise, Matt Cassel will have worn out his welcome in the eyes of EVERYONE by that point, but we still won't have a QB so he'll stick around another year. And that will be unbearable.

In the meantime though, we're enjoying the return of Chiefs football. We'll put up with Matt "Wesley" Cassel. Why? We have no other choice. What are we going to do? Not watch Star Trek? Should we miss the Chiefs playoff run just because Wesley Crusher is our QB?
