I think Cassel was the victim of poor coaching.
He didn't start at USC, and apparently they didn't work on his mechanics while there.
Then he was the backup to Brady for three years, and for all the credit that Josh McDumbass is given for Cassel's '08 season, and for Orton's numbers in the last two seasons with the Donkeys, he did absolutely nothing in the way of improving those mechanics.
Last season, he showed improved mechanics as the season progressed, but regressed late.
Given that he's reputed to be a hard worker, as he works on those mechanics in the offseason, he should be an improved QB.
