And I've never had a problem with safety at Puerto Vallarta or even feared for it at any time. I'm sure they've got their fair share of drug dealing (and other shady shit) going on there, but unless you go searching for it, that shouldn't be a problem. Tourism is really the city's only industry, nobody wants to ruin that.
