My problem with Hicks was never his politics. It's that he was so damn dark. I understand that you have a message and I am well aware that it's not a perfect world - but I have a hard time with comedians that take everything so seriously and are so prone to going into some pretty sinister places.
I don't think he'd have been Jon Stewart. I see him becoming more like Bill Maher. Maher was funny at one point in his career, but now he's just kind of a bloviating shithead that takes himself entirely too seriously.

Bill was dark, no doubt. I think if you really give a listen to his larger body of work, though, you will see his message is largely optimistic.
