Depends on the sling shot. Golf-sized rock will knock you the **** out if thrown hard enough maybe even kill you.
Ranged weapon > melee weapon. The trick would be utilizing the rocks properly because if you miss with all 20, you're screwed. The good thing is that the guy with the sword has to get close to you in order to kill you.
