Even if he said to keep the ring, why would she? Just money-grubbing?
(I said the same thing about my ex-wife, who kept the engagement ring when she left me - course she also did a pretty messed up thing by adding a couple of settings to it, apparently the original ring wasn't good enough, so I wasn't really surprised by much in the end)
