I'll tell you what I did for my elderly dogs.

First, get a juicer. When you extract juice, you have a bunch of pulp left. Use this (freeze excess for later). Next, buy variety meats like kidney, gizzard, etc. You can grind/chop them yourself or have them do it in the meat dept.

Take a batch of the meat, nuke it till done, mix with an equal amount of the pulp, allow to cool (doesn't take long, a couple minutes). Feed to very happy, healthy dog.
